Some of you may have spotted yesterday on the government’s COVID website that the number of cases in Flackwell Heath between 5th and 11th February had risen from 6 to 27.  Whilst this might appear to be a very large increase in the number of cases in the village, it is still a small number in the grand scheme of things and I have been assured by our Public Health officials that it should not be seen as a major cause of concern.  Several of the people infected were in the same households and many were linked to small outbreaks in schools, pre-schools and workplaces.  Clearly, all these incidents are being followed up by officials.

So as long as we continue to follow the strict guidelines currently laid down by government, we should not see a further steep rise in the number of cases here.  I therefore urge you all, whether you have had the jab yet or not, to carry on following the rules; 2-metre social distancing, wearing a mask that covers the mouth and nose, frequent thorough hand washing, and, as appropriate, the use of personal protective equipment.
