“On behalf of WMCO, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the generous donations and to all the volunteers of the SVG Volcano Donation Appeal at Hilltop. Every day since Tues 13th April the Centre has been a hub of donations to send relief to those in need in SVG. When we started on Tuesday, we never expected the response to be so immense which is a testament that the High Wycombe community, retailers and wider general public have been touched and deeply affected by the natural disaster which has unfolded.

Over the course of the 4 days we have filled 10x van loads, containing 850+ boxes of food, water, baby products, clothes, toiletries, PPE, mattresses, baby cots and so much much more. We still have in excess of 150+ boxes heading to Southampton tomorrow. The donations are due to leave the UK on Wednesday.

At present we are no longer taking donations at Hilltop until further notice, but we are pleased to say the Caribbean People’s Foundation are still taking donations. Please contact Yvonne David 07854 829913 to arrange delivery or collection.

SVG are still continuing to experience a series of huge eruptions of the volcano La Soufriere and more than 15,000 people have had to leave their homes. The island is blanketed in ashfall which as well as hampering visibility, destroying buildings and destroying agriculture will cause immediate and long-term breathing problems. So, there will be still a need to help for many months.

We will update you when we will resume accepting donations back at Hilltop.

Thank you for your continued support

Sebert Graham

WMCO Chairman, Hilltop Community Centre”
