We have all heard of the Localism Bill, which gained its Royal Assent in mid-November, and many of us will be aware that the Act will require a number of additional Statutory Instructions/Regulations to be passed by Parliament and for various programmes to be put in place. The provisions and opportunities of the Act that mostly apply to communities include, among other things, Neighbourhood Planning, Community Rights to safeguard key local assets and the right to challenge the way in which local services are organised. So the big question is “Will it directly affected any of us now or into the future?” Well the answer is YES !!
Thanks to Wycombe District Councillor David Johncock, “Localism” is coming to Flackwell Heath! As a councillor, David is keen to be more involved in and aware of the needs of his parishioners. Given the important role of the Flackwell Heath Residents’ Association (FHRA), David has asked the association to work with him on this process beginning with public consultations to ascertain what residents think is good and bad about the village.
Supported by Community Impact Bucks* and a number of other local Councillors, FHRA is holding a Public Consultation Day at the Community Centre in Flackwell Heath on Saturday 21st January 2012, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. This will be an opportunity for ALL villagers to come along and have their say about issues that affect us all.
There will be display boards on different topics:
- Environment
- Transport
- Community
- Economy
Just pop-in for a few minutes and express your views on these important topics. It couldn’t be easier, you just need to jot your thoughts onto a “post-it” note and stick them on the boards and also fill out a “Do you Love it or Loathe it?” form whilst perhaps enjoying a cup of tea or coffee.
Some of you might think this is a waste of time but this Consultation Day will identify the major issues that the majority of residents want the FHRA and local Councils to focus upon over the coming months and years. And don’t worry if you miss this opportunity to give us your views. There will be other ways to submit your comments including a household questionnaire and hopefully an on-line survey.
Even this is just the beginning of the process as there will be feedback sessions with opportunities to review the outcomes. The first of these will be the FHRA AGM at the Royal British Legion on 8th March 2012 when colleagues from Community Impact Bucks will present the results of their analysis of the “post-it” notes and also tell us what groups in other areas have achieved.
However, we really do want to meet as many people as possible on the 21st January, so please give us 10 minutes of your valuable time. WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK – IT IS IMPORTANT !!
Questions? Please contact the FHRA Secretary, Chloë Barrow (Contact Information)or write to us care of Express Video, 3 Straight Bit, Flackwell Heath, Bucks HP10 9LS.
