The very considerable increase in the volume and speed of traffic through Flackwell Heath over recent years is slowly destroying the quality of life of its residents, together with providing the potential for serious or fatal accidents. Residents have raised grave concerns and complaints about this matter and the FHRA Police and Traffic Group feel that action must be taken in the very near future to rectify this.
Village Traffic Plan Update
Further work on the Village Traffic Plan has been suspended until new members can be recruited to join the PAT Group.
Parking
As of 1 October 2008, responsibility for controlling parking and the enforcement of parking restrictions in the Wycombe District was passed from Thames Valley Police to Wycombe District Council. This includes, not just parking in restricted areas, but also parking on the pavement and verges, near schools and in places likely to endanger pedestrian safety.
WDC Parking Enforcement Officers have already attended at Old Kiln Road by Budgen’s supermarket and in The Common. So be aware if you have been parking illegally on the double yellow lines at these and other black spots in the village.
Details of other problem areas identified in the survey conducted by the PAT Group last year have been passed to WDC Parking Enforcement Officers.
Have you been affected by the new arrangements? Please give us your feedback.
Residents should continue to report any parking issues to the PAT Group so that they can provide substantive evidence to WDC to get these problems resolved.
Daws Hill Air Base and Abbey Barn Developments
WDC held a consultation meeting on the 13th July 2009, which was attended by members of the PAT Group
Below is a copy of the presentation given at the meeting on 20 October 2008:-
The WDC representatives failed to convince the public that they had a viable solution to the additional traffic that would be generated by the developments. The option of a new junction on the M40 between J3 & J4 to alleviate traffic on local roads was discounted. The additional traffic proved to be the main concern over these developments
The FHRA, through both the P&E and the PAT Groups, will continue to monitor developments and try to ensure that FH residents are fully involved in future consultations. Please let both the FHRA and your local councillors (WDC and CWPC) know your views on this matter – what are your major concerns? what level of development would be acceptable?
